Emilio Stoppelenburg is an illustrator and storyteller based in Utrecht, Netherlands.
To Emilio, all of the everyday people and things that seem mundane, are actually really special. His work reflects this fascination and combines it with a sense of magic and nostalgia. He believes that the stories we tell are among the most important fabrics of our lives. They shape our imagination, they inspire us and touch us in ways we often don't even think about.
A simple story can change someone's life.
This love for stories culminated in him dedicating his academic studies to them. Emilio holds a BA in Film and New Media from Utrecht University, specializing in non-linear storytelling in Games.
His interest in Game Studies also lead him to work at Sparrow Night Games. Here, he combines his passion for illustration with stories and games. At Sparrow Night, he works on projects such as News Tower, which won the prize for Best Game of 2024 at the Dutch Game Awards.
Alongside his work at Sparrow Night Games, Emilio currently works as an autonomous illustrator.
His goal is to illustrate, and one day publish his own children's books.
